AN OFFER YOU *CAN* REFUSE
Have you been watching the new show called The
Offer?
It chronicles the making of The Godfather from the
perspective of the real-life producer. At first I was
skeptical that a show about the making of another
would be any good.
But it's freaking great. The casting is amazing, every
character is interesting and the story line draws you
in and doesn't let you go.
As it turns out, the entire Godfather trilogy has been
made available at the same time, so my teenage
son and I have been watching them.
He and I talked about the message of the movies...
you know, what they're REALLY about.
We both agreed they're about RESPECT.
Did you know the word "mafia" is never used in the
first Godfather movie? (Hint: The Offer explains
why.)
And compared to other mobster movies--like say,
Goodfellas, for example--the money is almost NEVER
brought up.
Sure they live in nice houses and drive nice cars,
but as far as the movie's script goes, that's all beside
the point.
The focus is on relationships. Family. Colleagues.
Loyalty.
Both personal power and being part of something
bigger stem from that focus.
Lose that focus, you lose respect. And you're out.
Ultimately, the message is clear: RESPECT is what
propels all manner of success in life, be that at
work, at play, and yes...ESPECIALLY when it comes
to attracting women.
Now, you don't have to be an organized crime boss,
of course. Like Michael Corleone always dreamed
of, I trust you're "legit".
But RESPECT is at the core of a life well lived by
EVERY MAN.
There are NO exceptions.
Now, much like "The Don" himself, I have an offer
for you.
But in this case, it's an offer you CAN refuse.
I mean, it's up to you. I don't have Luca Brasi
to "encourage" you.
I'm only half-kidding.
The irony is that many of the men who most
surely should take my offer, will not.
They'll remain intimidated. Unsure of themselves.
But for my part, I trust you will NOT refuse it.
You'll sense the opportunity and seize it
immediately.
