MY DARK SECRET
After almost eighteen years, I'm still psyched about writing and
podcasting on the topic of dating and relationships.
And by all means, getting feedback from you about how your
lives have been transformed by what we do here at X & Y
Communications is immensely rewarding. It makes us feel great
to hear your success stories.
But I have a dark secret.
I have ulterior motives for doing all of this.
That's right. I'm in this for reasons other than the obvious ones.
However, since there isn't anything surreptitious or underhanded
about my intentions, ulterior though they may be, I'm more than
happy to share:
1) Personal Accountability
Think about it. What credibility do I have if I'm not out "walking
the walk"?
Oh sure, I can "talk" with the best of them.
But nothing really keeps me on my toes quite like publicly
broadcasting one's own world views and sharing with others
all the secrets to resounding success.
By freely sharing what it takes to deserve what you want, I most
certainly ought to be making sure I am deserving what I want,
right?
Absolutely.
I mean, yes...there are other well-known dating coaches who've
been married and divorced in the past few years and they're
still giving advice.
But that's not any of my concern. In my mind, track record is
all-important.
So the commitment I have to make in order for X & Y Communications
to make any sense whatsoever is to believe in my own product, and
use it.
And I do, to the very best of my ability.
2) Ensuring A Positive Example For The Kids
If you have read Deserve What You Want, you realize that I
maintain a somewhat strong opinion that kids in our culture are
given very little, if any, accurate information as to what it takes
to attract and keep a fantastic mate someday.
I mean, come on, most adults have no clue.
Since deserving what one wants when it comes to a lifetime
companion is arguably the most crucial undertaking in life, I have
to keep my example well tuned so as to give all four of our kids an
excellent head start in ensuring success in that area someday.
Personal example helps, but the added bonus of my having done so
much research on the subject for over a decade now is that I get to
objectively help set them on the right path...because I went out of
my way to, um, get a clue.
For what it's worth, we also believe is virtuous, masculine boys
and feminine yet empowered girls. So far, so good.
3) Keeping My Own "Fire" Alive
Becoming stagnant is never a good thing. Either we're growing, or
we're almost certainly stuck in reverse.
Yeah, well...I'll take the option of moving forward, thank you.
In order to do that--in order to deserve what I want more and more
each day--I have to keep learning and keep working on my "game",
don't I?
Otherwise, I risk deserving less than what I want. And by
definition, I don't want that.
So why do I share all this with you? Mostly because my desire is
to motivate you to take the concept of deserving what you want in
dating and relationships as seriously as I do.
There is so very much at stake.
However, I also want to encourage you with the fact that I am still
very much your fellow traveler on the journey. Ride on...

friggin' alarm clock and kiss "Cubicle Alley" goodbye forever.
Being able to work anywhere in the world and meet all of you
