CELEBRATE THE 200th EPISODE OF THE MOUNTAIN TOP

For this milestone episode, I'm releasing a completely remastered
audio of my Interviews With Dating Gurus session with David
Deangelo
.

This has been a premium program for over 13 years since it was first
released, but Eben and the team over at Double Your Dating agreed
to make this possible in celebration of 200 episodes.

It's a fun listen.  Lots of the foundational themes we talk about around
here regarding women and masculinity were rolled out for the first time
in this interview:

Episode 200 Of The Mountain Top Podcast

Doing this interview was a gigantic thrill at the time because getting
that gig for a me was a lot like getting on the Tonight Show or Letterman
was for a comedian.

Plus, as you'll see below, David D.'s book absolutely changed my life.
I was a big fan long before the interview ever happened...

"WHAT IF I TRY TO GET BETTER WITH WOMEN...AND IT DOESN'T
WORK?"

It was mid-December of 2003.

I had just gotten home around lunchtime from the courthouse, my divorce
having been finalized.

Mercifully, it had been the very first item on the judge's docket that morning.

I hadn't needed to take the day off or anything.  After all, on top of my
marriage ending I had been laid off from my dream job a couple of weeks
prior.

Merry freaking Christmas, right?

So I cracked a brewski--at noon.

And I plopped my stressed, overwrought, out-of-shape self down in front
of the computer.

In my mind I was washed up at age 36.  All alone in a big barn of a house
now devoid of furniture, I felt like Jack Nicholson in The Shining.

For sure I was convinced I'd never see another woman naked again in
my entire life.

So you can imagine how I felt when I saw a bizarre pair of questions at
the bottom of a seemingly random web page:

"Would you like to get better with women?  Are you ready to get that
part of your life handled?"

I laughed out loud at the irony.

What if  I tried to "get better with women" and it didn't work?  I'd feel
even worse than I did at that moment!

That was one hell of a scary thought.

But did I enter my e-mail address and sign up?  You bet I did.

I had no idea who "David DeaAngelo" was, but that's how I started
getting his newsletters.

They were amazing.  They talked about men, women, attraction and
dating in a way I'd never heard before.

Just a mere couple of years before, my New Year's resolution had been
to "soften my demeanor".   But now, David D. was telling me to unleash
my natural, brash, even "cocky/funny" self.

After years of being "nice", David D. wrote about how being a "challenge"
was what really attracted women.

Epiphany.  Catharsis.  Whatever other fancy word for "amazing mind
shift" you can come up with.  They all applied.

But then I actually found my stones and went out and TRIED it.

I'll never forget the first real "date" I went on after discovering David
D.'s writings
.

I met up with her, and on David D.s advice invoked my inner Han
Solo.

I leaned back, slowed down my speech, took up space in the
booth we were sitting at and let the wry answers to whatever she
said start flowing.

I mean, that was like .001% of the GOLDEN knowledge I'd been
handed in recent weeks, but it's what I remembered on the spot...
newbie such that I was.

And then IT HAPPENED.

She was attracted enough that she dropped the sex hint David
D. said might happen, just to see if I was man enough to handle
it:

"You know, I may be an accountant by day, but I'm a sex
kitten by night."

My answer was quick, deft and assertive...but smooth as silk
thanks to a deep breath:

"Oh, wait a minute there, girlie.  I don't know you well enough
for you to start talking about sex yet."

Money.

She was giggling and flirting to an almost shameless degree
after that.

To say I RUSHED back to the computer and consumed as much
of David D.'s stuff that I could get my hands on would be an
understatement.

For the next several years I was a living poster boy for
Double Your Dating prosperity in all its glory.

And check it out...in February 2007, guess whose name was
on David D's "Interviews With Dating Gurus" disc?

I still remember holding it in my hand and marveling at the
words "Scot McKay" printed on it.

At that time, getting on David D.'s. interviews series was
the big time.  As a dating coach, if David D. said you were
a "dating guru", it was undeniably so.

Over the years, "dating gurus" have come and gone...
but David D.'s teaching endures.

Part of why I too still "endure" is because of David D.'s
influence, no doubt.

Grab a copy of his book for yourself and feel the same
rush I did so many years ago:

If you're even 1% interested in "getting this part of your life
handled", as David himself would say, then you'll jump at this
chance.

Be Good,

Scot McKay
