WOMEN IN "LITTLE BLACK DRESSES"
In the interest of being clear, we are NOT all that interested in
talking about women's fashion around here.
But as far as I'm concerned, the central topic of today's
conversation--what's commonly known in female circles as the "little
black dress"--really isn't about haute couture anyway.
In fact, it's about as close to a "gold standard" (or is that a
"black standard"?) as you can get in women's clothing. Think of it
as sort of a "default" choice that hangs in virtually EVERY woman's
closet.
There's a reason for that. And YES...as you're about to discover,
that reason should be VERY IMPORTANT to you.
Here's the deal.
Sometimes you'll overhear someone close to the fashion industry say
that "pink is the new black this spring", or "navy blue is the new
black this season", etc.
And what they're specifically talking about is that it's a
long-established fact that BLACK goes with EVERYTHING ELSE a woman
might wear, and perhaps other colors might be able to do the same.
But in the end, they can't.
Year in and year out BLACK is the new black. It will ALWAYS be
that way.
And since the "little black dress", by definition, is typically
very basic--about knee-length and devoid of any patterns, sequins,
etc.--that further increases it's universal utility to women.
But there's another, even MORE fascinating factor that makes the
"little black dress" so indispensable to women.
You see, ever since Audrey Hepburn made them famous back in the
early 50's it's been common knowledge (among women, at least) that
just about ANY WOMAN looks GREAT in one.
Make no mistake...Audrey Hepburn looked especially good in her
"little black dress", but that's beside the point to be made here.
Hang in there with me...
So then, what logically follows from this insight?
It's simple, really.
Whenever a woman feels as if she has GOT to look her very best--and
in her mind there is ZERO margin for error--she'll reach for that
"little black dress" in her closet almost every time.
And since that's pretty much an undeniable truth, here's what you
need to know.
If and when a woman shows up for a date with you WEARING a "little
black dress", that means beyond a shadow of a doubt that impressing
you is VERY, VERY important to her.
That "little black dress" she's wearing is a CLEAR signal that she
wants to look her absolute BEST for you, and in her mind she can't
risk messing that up...at all.
Now, to be honest if you've been talking to a woman online and are
meeting her for the very first time, then it's completely possible
that she might wear the "little black dress" just IN CASE she
happens to like you.
It might not be a foregone conclusion--although you CAN indeed bet
she's got high hopes, and that's a great sign.
BUT...if you HAVE already met a woman and she's rockin' the "telltale
dark garment of attraction" when she shows up to hang out with you,
it's time for you to RELAX and ENJOY.
She's ALREADY way into you, man. You can bank on it.
The added bonus is she's most likely also looking hotter than a
habanero about then. Let's just say that the "little black dress"
strategy is generally right on point.
So to sum it all up, you could say that if you get the "LBD" you've
avoided the "JBF". Sweetness.
Be Good,
Scot McKay
